What is the purpose of my set-

When creating my set I had to ask  myself a couple of questions...

what setting am I trying to convey?

The setting I want to convey is the home living/dining room an area in which a family would relax and eat with one another.

What is my supporting style aesthetic?

I like maximalism this idea of filling your home with everything to show an individual’s true personality and fully embracing and using a space.

What period is my set based?

My set will look at the modern world today and how our homes may look if we weren’t afraid of one colour and second of all emotion.

What is my aesthetic?

Kawaii and kid chore. Though I’m looking at homes today both these aesthetics were popular in the 90s. Kawaii looking at this idea of Japanese mascots and this idea of the cute as well as kid chore looking at colour and games.

What is the scale of my set?

The scale of my set will be the size of a large living room space/dining room.

How practical is the function of my set?

I want my set to function like a home so want some elements to be usable however I also want some parts to be like props which the audience can get photos with and be part of an aesthetic.

What colour palette will I use?

Polychrome – the use of multiple different colours within a set.

What are my themes and symbolisms?

My theme is looking at how to bring art into the home and how to create a space that embraces colour and emotion and allows us to escape from the world while also having subtle hints at societal issues through crafts, ceramics and painting.
